The Waverly High School Ethics Bowl Team, "Team Hypatia," won the state-wide 2025-26 Ethics Bowl competition. After sweeping 3-0 in the preliminary matches, they beat the Creighton Preparatory High School team, "Descartes," in an intense final match.
The state competition takes place first, on a Saturday in late January/early February, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha Department of Philosophy. Professor Laura Grams leads the event and nearly all faculty play roles as moderators and judges. Fun fact: Omaha Central High School has a Team A, "Hobbes," and a Team B, "Calvin."
The regional competition will be in two weeks, followed by the national competition.
